Holi Festival of Colours @ St. George's Market - 28/02/10

Holi is the most vibrant of all Indian festivals where the literal throwing of colours is used to symbolise equality. This took place in the form of a big colour party wherein people drenched in different colours lose their identity to become one. Most of these pictures were taken during the aftermath of each session!

Nisha Tandon, project manager for ArtsEkta, comments on the festival saying, "The Holi festival brings all cultures together in a high-spirited event that highlights the value of cultural exchange as a medium to promote communication and harmony." Running for its second year in Belfast the event proved to be popular.

Snap Crackle & Psych @ Brown's Bistro - 27/2/10

Oh Mod a Night! Tucked behind City Hall, Brown's Bistro opened its doors from 9pm till very late last Saturday night offering drinks and mod sounds. A welcoming and fun atmosphere greets you as rare garage, freakbeat and not forgetting old classics are blared out from a variety of DJs.

Guys sported their finest vintage attire including tailored suits, cravats and paisley shirts whilst the ladies donned big hair with lace and 60s mini-dresses.

This night has really come into its own with a good range of ages attending and the packed dancefloor certainly proved this!

Upcoming Event - Holi Festival of Colours

Liven up an otherwise dreary Sunday by celebrating (or hoping for) the coming of Spring at St.George's Market! There will be performances, workshops, a food market and crafts all accompanied to Bollywood and Bhangra music. In the true Holi tradition there will also be colourful powders to throw, it could get messy!
