From pink to green... St Malachy's church is one of those buildings which holds my gaze everytime I pass it. Maybe its because it resembles a Tudor castle with its towering turrets, studded doors and arrow slits or (and I hate to say it) because its slightly pink! It was designed by Thomas Jackson, complete in 1844 and is considered to be one of the most romantic buildings in Belfast. In 1868 the largest bell was added but it was too loud and interfered with the maturing process of whisky in a nearby distillery. The gates are rusting.... I don't think it likes its new green coat.
